Dear Cape Academy Families,

On December 10, 2024, a beloved parent of The Cape Academy community, Phil Van Tiem, suffered a sever head injury when a drunk driver struck Phil on the sidewalk while he was on his nightly walk with his family. At this time, Phil is in the ICU at a local hospital but will be transferred to a long term care facility in the future. Although Phil is currently in a coma, there is hope for a recovery.

Phil is the father of Elliot Ahmad, a student at The Cape Academy Mohawk campus. This is an extremely tough and tragic time for their family, and we though it would be nice to organize a school-wide fundraiser in order to assist his family financially during this difficult time. Phil's wife, Miriam, is in need of an additional helper which insurance will not cover. With continued prayers and financial assistance, we are hoping that Phil will eventually be able to make a full recovery.

Teachers will be collecting cash donations that will be given to the family. We will be collecting donations until January 24th. A GoFundMe has also been started for Phil and his family. If you would rather donate to that directly, the link is provided below
